What Are The Various Schemes Available?

Currently, there are 5 schemes provided by the government through which you can apply for the Singapore PR. They are:

1. Professional, Technical Personnel & Skilled Worker (PTS) Scheme – For Working Individuals

Considered the easiest and most assured way to attain a Singapore PR, the PTS scheme is the most common and preferred pathway to attain a Singapore PR. It is especially suited for foreign professionals who are living and working in the country at the time of applying for PR. In this scheme, you can also include your spouse and children under the age of 21 in your application.

If you match the PTS scheme criteria, then this is the right time to go ahead and start thinking about applying for the Singapore PR.

2. Sponsored Scheme – For Spouse & Children

Suited for those whose spouse is already a Singapore PR or a citizen. So, if your spouse happens to be either one, they can use this scheme to sponsor you as a foreigner along with your children or stepchildren or legally adopted children under the age of 21 and can even apply for PR for your aged parents.

3.  Foreign Students Scheme (FSS) – For Foreign Students

Singapore has long been the preferred study destination for many. According to minister Josephine Teo, nearly 8 in 10 foreign students who applied for PR in the last decade were successful. So, if you are a foreign student who has resided in Singapore for more than two years and has passed at least one national exam or is in the Integrated Programme (IP), you can use the FSS to apply for Singapore PR.

4. Foreign Artistic Talent (FA) Scheme – For Exceptional Artists

The FA scheme is exclusively designed for outstanding art professionals who have talents in music, dance, photography, theatre, film, or literature and are well-established in their home country and with international prominence. They also need to have made significant contributions to the arts and culture scene in Singapore.

5. Global Investor Programme (GIP) Scheme  – For Foreign Investors

The GIP scheme allows foreign investors, entrepreneurs, and seasoned business owners who are interested in being based in Singapore for the long term to apply for Singapore PR. Under this scheme, besides applying for yourself you can also apply for PR for your immediate family members by either investing S$2.5 million in a new business entity or expansion of an existing business or in a GIP-approved fund that invests in locally-based companies.
